What is Chief Minister Housing Assistance Programme?

The scheme "Chief Minister’s Housing Assistance Programme" by the Housing Department, Government of Meghalaya, aims to provide durable housing to EWS and LIG families. Through this scheme, roofing materials and dwelling houses are provided to eligible families in the State.

Benefit
1. Three bundles of 9-foot-long GCI sheets (roofing material) for EWS households as an outright grant. 1. Construction of a durable house with a carpet area of a minimum of 19.20 sqm (207 sq. ft) with at least 2 rooms for LIG households as a credit-linked subsidy. 1. Financial assistance up to ₹75,000 under the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme for LIG houses. 1. Additional cost to be borne by beneficiary through own resources, MGNREGS, SRWP, or bank loan. 1. Houses to be constructed as per government-approved model (Annexure-A). 1. Land ownership and geo-tagging are mandatory for the beneficiary. > **Note:** > In case of Credit Linked Subsidy, funds are disbursed in installments through bank/post office account based on progress certified by the Housing Selection and Monitoring Committee.

    How to Apply

    1. Step 1: Offline application — step 1

      Step 01: Visit the Block Development Officer (for rural areas) or District Housing Officer (for urban areas).

    2. Step 2: Offline application — step 2

      Step 02: Obtain the prescribed printed application form issued by the Directorate of Housing.

    3. Step 3: Offline application — step 3

      Step 03: Fill in the form with all personal, income, and housing details.

    4. Step 4: Offline application — step 4

      Step 04: Attach required documents (EPIC, income certificate, land proof, etc.).

      Step 05: Submit the filled application to the same authority (BDO or DHO).

    6. Step 6: Offline application — step 6

      Step 06: BDO/DHO prepares a list of beneficiaries and sends it to the Block/Urban Level Selection and Monitoring Committee.

      Step 07: The committee screens and approves the list.

      Step 08: The approved list is forwarded to the District Housing Committee.
