The scheme aims to familiarize meritorious students with police functioning and promote research in law enforcement by providing selected students a six-week internship in district police stations under official supervision.

**Professional Exposure:** Interns gain firsthand experience of police administration, law enforcement, investigation procedures, and public dealing. **Research Opportunity:** Each intern submits an analytical research paper of 3,000 words on an approved topic related to policing. **Certification:** A Police Internship Certificate is awarded upon successful completion by the respective unit head (Superintendent of Police). **Supervised Training:** Each intern is placed under the supervision of at least a Sub-Inspector or higher-ranking officer, who mentors and evaluates daily work. **Practical Learning:** Interns maintain a daily duty record, authenticated by their supervising officer the following day. **Placement Structure:** Large police stations (in Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, and Gwalior): 2–3 interns **Medium police stations:** 1 intern **Mode and Duration:** Internship duration: 6 weeks (June 1–July 12) Mode: Full-time, in-person at designated police stations. **Honorarium:** The scheme is unpaid. No salary or stipend is provided. Lodging and food arrangements must be made by the interns themselves. **Disciplinary Provisions:** No leave is permitted during the internship period. Lack of interest or misconduct may result in termination by the Superintendent of Police.

    How to Apply

    1. Step 1: Offline application — step 1

      The District Superintendent of Police (SP) contacts major universities and colleges to invite applications.

    2. Step 2: Offline application — step 2

      Step 1: The interested applicant downloads the application form (Annexure K) from the official website.

    3. Step 3: Offline application — step 3

      Step 2: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest, if required).

    4. Step 4: Offline application — step 4

      Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents to the respective District Superintendent of Police (SP) Office.

      Applications are reviewed based on eligibility, academic merit, and interest in policing. Qualified students are allotted police stations according to training capacity: 2–3 interns for large stations, 1 for medium stations. Interns begin work on June 1, with supervision by designated officers. Interns maintain daily duty logs and submit a 3,000-word analytical research paper. Successful interns receive a Police Internship Certificate signed by the unit head. Each district submits a list of selected interns by June 15 and completion details by August 1 to the Police Training Headquarters.
